The Hermesys ChimeraX™ 2 Fiber Cable is a compact fiber optic cable built around a stainless steel loose tube. A ring of stainless steel strength members reinforces the tube, and a flexible TPE outer sheath finishes the design. This all-metal core gives the cable stronger heat and mechanical resistance than conventional loose-tube designs, so it holds up in demanding environments where standard fiber cables fall short.
Key Features and Benefits
- Dual stainless steel construction combines a loose tube around the fibers with a surrounding ring of strength members. Together they resist heat and mechanical stress without adding bulk
- The compact 4.8 mm diameter keeps the cable lightweight and easy to route through confined spaces or existing conduit
- The flexible TPE outer sheath (standard red, other colors available) resists abrasion and chemicals, and it stays easy to handle during installation
- Rated to 3000 N tensile load and 3000 N/100 mm crush resistance, the cable protects its fiber core during pulling and installation
- Color-coded (red/green) fibers within the loose tube simplify identification and splicing in the field
- Wide bend-radius tolerance (static >15D, dynamic >20D of the cable’s outer diameter) allows tighter routing in space-constrained enclosures, while staying within the fiber’s minimum bend limits
- G652D single-mode fiber delivers low attenuation (≤0.36 dB/km at 1310 nm, ≤0.22 dB/km at 1550 nm) for reliable signal transmission over distance
- The compact 2-fiber configuration suits point-to-point links where a small footprint and low fiber count matter
