The Hermesys HydraX™ 1.6T OSFP Active Electrical Cable (AEC) extends high-speed copper connectivity across demanding rack-level network architectures. Its active electrical design supports an aggregate throughput of 1.6 Tb/s over distances up to 4 metres, offering a practical interconnect option for equipment positioned beyond the typical reach of passive copper cables.
Each assembly uses two hot-pluggable OSFP1600 ends and carries eight 200G PAM4 channels through a 26 AWG cable. Compatibility with the 1.6TAUI-8 chip-to-module interface allows the AEC to connect emerging 1.6T Ethernet hardware while maintaining a manageable copper-based installation within data centre racks.
